Editing . . .
Editing can be divided into two types: ‘selective’ and ‘corrective’ editing. Selective editing involves the selection, amalgamation and consolidation of the best performances. Corrective editing can be further sub-divided into audio restoration and performance correction. Audio restoration involves the treatment of any unwanted noise from the recorded material such as the buzz from a guitar amp or a low frequency mains hum while performance correction addresses time and pitch errors within a performance.
Provided your tracking day involves high quality instruments, tools, facilities, the presence of a competent engineer and perfect performances by all, you shouldn’t have any problems with your recordings. However, with so many variables, it’s possible that your recordings may require some form of editing. Provided the material is reconcilable, I can implement a variety of native D.A.W. tools and third party plug-ins to restore the recordings to usable takes.
